Giving the fact that the street is valuing AOL members over $1K/person, a 100 dollar subscriber aquisition cost sounds like a bargain. AOL do need to continue having large trial members to justify their ad rate, as well as their stock price.

I have always wondered the effectiveness of online advertisement. Personally I have never paid any attention to the ads on Yahoo's pages, although I am sure I am generating quite some ad revenues for them. I guess the rollout of TALK on AOL next month will give people some initial indications on this.
