I went to Walmarts today, I took my checkbook, but forgot my wallet. I checked out, wrote the check and they ran it through their machine. They thanked me and handed me my receipt! They did not ask for identification of any kind! What's wrong with this picture? I believe there is going to be plenty of room to grow for IDX and companies like IDX. It should scare the hell out of everybody knowing that the biggest retailer in the world could care less who you really are! While they may have a policy in place to prevent that, it obviously wasn't in place today! To that point, a teacher at our school was mugged on a food store parking lot. The thieves stole her purse and before that night was over, he ran her entire checking account out at 5 different Walmart stores. They had no security tapes of the counters and the thief was not asked for other identification at any of the stores. I can tell this story because it is entirely true and happened to a teacher at one of our local schools. This incident clearly begs for a tightening of security throughout the World! I don't think this problem is isolated to one chain or one store, but rather comes out of the nonchalant attitude of society as a whole unless they have been personally hurt!
