Joey, Compaq used the 233 to test market the AMd productline. it worked at price point $1,099.00 cause all but four machines hidden under a table at future shop are sold out. OK almost all sold out. bottom line compaq makes no headlines selling the AMD K-6 @ 233 .35u cmos. However announceing the AMDK-6 @266 .25ucmos will be the first system sold with new .25u cmos technology. The technomedia will featrue it on the front cover writers and product reviewers will all cover the story. Cause for the first time in cpu history it won't be an intel inside product. The AMD marketing department is working on a new campaign for the release It will feature a new slogan
"AMD Along Side". Reinforcing the theme of AMD as an Alternative to Intel. Mitch Miller Orchestra has been hired to revive the singalong song "Side byte Side". AND the commercial will show the AMD K^6 logo incased in a chip bubble pac bounce on the words to the sing-a-long song, as it is song. The curtain comes down with everyone AMD technicians, boxmaker assembly workers, and happy Customers singing along to the song. And a voice over asking Computer Customers to ask their favorite Computer Manufacturers, and to join along side them and AMD to help bring down computer system costs in short by buying products featruing AMD products selling well below Intels prices.
The Computer Manufactures association is considering giving Sanders an acheivment award for an outstanding contribution for helping break the Intel monoply on CPU pricing, and for the resulting cost savings efficiencys AMD products are bringing to the market. Hope this explains things for you!
