David. Roll up your sleeves and spend some time researching the market stock by stock.
Where I work we have 12 main frame computers doing electrical power system analysis on 2700 recognized contingencies across Ontario's main electrical power grid. It takes 4 minutes for our computer to rank these contingencies in order of severity to present 30 of the worst contingencies for humans to observe and say yes that makes sense but I already knew that!!!!!!!!!!!
The prograrm is called PCTM - Post Contingency Thermal Monitoring and it is part of a System Security Applications Program string. Its truly amazing Onatrio Hydro Data Aquasiton and Control System takes up 9000 square feet of computer floor space with hyperchannels linking 12 main frames. It scans load flow, voltage and system freqency across the power system province wide every 2 seconds but my small brain can identify and give me a far more logical answer to the most significant contingency in a shorter time than the machine!!!!!!!!
The machine is so hung up with noise that it can not focus on the true problem. It treats every possible combination of contingencies with the same degree of relavence because it cannot rationalize whats is important at any particular time interval.

The brain is an awsome machine and is capable of far more rationalization skills than any program so long as it is exercised.

Bottom line. If u want to make money spend the time to research and purchase a rabbits foot. If you can't spend the time then hire a broker and hope that he/she is good and is in your corner.
