Hi Brian,
I think tax selling is probably done, should see AMAT just
holding between $29-31 for a few weeks till the funds start
buying heavily again. (January effect). I don't expect any
negative surprises of any consequence. Korea is still unstable
but at least controllable, for now. Japan is still a mystery
may see some more negative news here, especially the banks and
financial companies with exposure to Pac-rim countries in
economic trouble that have outstanding loans and some possible
defaults on payments.
Seems like American banks with exposure to Korea may roll over
those loans and restructure the pay back timing to accomodate
the financial/currency crisis. Might hit quarter to quarter
anticipated earnings in some large banks and financial institutions
in 1998, beware of earnings downgrades in the US banking
companies for 1998, due to Korea.

Still looking for ~$35+ for AMAT by Feb (if not sooner), be ready
to take some profits off the table with 25-35% returns since the
mid Dec dip.

Watch NVLS and LRCX for price jump in January.

Good investing,

BB
