Sweeping deregulation didn't happen in the year leading up the financial crisis and recession. Blaming a recession on tax cuts is just ridiculous. The extra federal debt is bad long term but didn't cause the financial crisis, also a large majority of it wasn't because of wars or anti-terrorism efforts, most of the spending was on social programs. Most homeowners who "were left in the lurch" when Bush was president, where in a similar situation with Obama. As for either lack of heightened enforcement of OSHA regs as a source of a recession that doesn't pass the laugh test.
