| | | Hopefully one Ahmadiyya death won't lead to decades of bombings and shootings as happened between Catholics Christians and Protestant Christians in Ireland and Scotland. Both Ahmadiyya Muslim and Sunni Muslim cleric in Glasgow have called for the Glasgow community to be patient as the police investigation proceeds.
Humza Yousaf, the Scottish government’s only Muslim minister, immediately responded in a tweet:
“No ifs, no buts, no living in denial – a vile cancer of sectarianism needs stamped out wherever it exists – including amongst Muslims.”
One of my roommates in college was a "Bahá'í Muslim" from Teheran. This is a religious combination which irritates most Muslims as much as the term "Mormon Christians" irritates many Christians as both Bahá'í, Mormons and Ahmadiyya, believe in later prophets than Jesus and Mohammad.
Just as the Mormons had to flee 1,300 miles to the badlands of Salt Lake City to avoid being lynched by other Christians and having their homes burnt to the ground, the Bahá'í Muslims decided to build their headquarters, the House of Justice, in Haifa, Israel. So far Haifa has proved as safe as Salt Lake City protecting these two groups from religious extremists.
Just as one would expect religious sectarian troublemakers from all religions living thousands of miles away from this shooting in Glasgow have been enjoying a field day of hate on the internet. It's sad there's people that twisted. |
