Paul:
I am not an AMD Apologist. I own a 233MHZ MMX Intel
and I am willing to accept Intel at its word that the latest
flaw in its MMX ( The ERRATA problem) can only be "forced"
until I actually encounter it.Yes, with a B.A in Business
Admin and a B.S. in Accounting I have had a few Marketing
courses and I disagree with the Excuse that Intel was marketing
the SX to appeal to a certain segment and that they "later came
to see the light".That statement right there answers the question
of whether they were looking ahead. You would also have to believe
that Intel knew that the Customer would be buying the SX knowing
that it wouldnt work on say Spreadsheet applications. You cant have
it both ways. Either Intel honestly believed that the Customer was
that informed or Intel didnt care. Also I believe it was later that
Intel made the SX motherboards with a slot for the Co-processor
and not from the beginning. This as opposed to say the Video
recorders who made the Betamax and the tape makers who didnt
support it .You now have the 56K Modem and nobody knows whether
it will be the flex version or the other which will be standard
and you have some like Robotics who will either give you an
upgrade or a new Modem if theirs is not the Standard and some
who will not so if theirs is not the Standard then you are out of
Luck. Which would you buy if you are going 56K?At least the
Consumer is given the choice and Informed.

To say that Intel" made a mistake" considering the above doesnt
say much for Intel in that instance. I bet you believe that Coke
made a mistake when it introduced the "New coke"?Now that was a
real mistake considering all the free advertising they got for
"Classic".
