Very low interest rates biggest factor of all. Most all new McMansions in far out suburbs. Larger builders with large tracts of land work on volume and scale. Higher dollar profits on bigger homes though the smallest homes in these subs sell for much more psf and have a higher margin. Usually construction quality goes down substantially during the late part of the cycle when there is a feeding frenzy and shortage of tradesmen with lots of experience..
