How did you reach such a conclusion?
None of the students I knew in my classes liked windows or microsoft.
They'd call it microcrap, microsuck..etc. They LOVED working on UNIX machines. Quite often students had linux instead of windows at home.
If it has nothign to do with p/p, then what is it?

Don't know. But the univ I came from had unix boxes left and right (SGI, HP, SUN) for their students. PC labs were for those without a word processor at home.
