Elroy, Congress has no interest in the economy. They are only interested in getting reelected. If this takes popular but counterproductive policies that the public likes, that's what we get. Even worse, in almost every country in the world, reform is advocated, but there is always a powerful and entrenched group that likes the status quo, especially if the status quo is popular with constituents who don't understand economics.

No question though that the Fed is out of bullets.
