Paul: As an Apologist for for Intel you want to seem to pick on one sentence to refute the whole part. I will make it clear for you. Any application which need the FPU or one for making the mathematical calculations for which a Co-processor is necessary is/was at a disadvantage. As for thwe Modems I am telling you that in PC World and other Pubs that some Modem manufacturers will not replace or supply the Software necessary for the upgrade. It has nothing to do with Eprom etc or any other Technical aspect. If you buy a HD that is warranted for 5 years and the place where you bought it will replace it for one year and for the other 4 it has to be returned to sat WD then it is the Policy and has nothing to do with Speed ,transfer rate etc. You are answering me by comparing apples and oranges which I see you do often.
