Regarding ". . . concerns about SanDisk 3D NAND as a reason not to own WDC . . ." that is an incorrect conclusion about what I was saying.

What I was saying was that SNDK solid state technology, whether 3D NAND or other types of NAND flash, is essential for WDC to remain competitive in a sector that is moving toward solid state memory, with no mechanical moving parts to wear out or consume lots of power. The price WDC has to pay, however, may make its stock less attractive. I personally don't like heavily leveraged companies except in instances where the companies have a clear competitive edge and dominate their respective market niches. Heavily leveraged firms are justified only when income is growing fast enough to cover the debt service costs entailed in an acquisition the magnitude of SanDisk. Because WDC still has to compete in the server market with the much larger Intel dominance, I'm not convinced that WDC stock is a good investment at current prices.
