In my opinion, it's clear the "market" does not believe the current earnings forecasts for many companies, Intel, Applied Materials, Cymer to name a few.

I believe there's also concern over Cymer's long term market position. Intel and AMAT have successfully naviagted the change from technology to technology. Cymer has DUV, and as a young company, does not have a track record to indicate how they will continue to be the market leader in subsequent technologies. DUV may remain the dominant technology for as long as 10 years (but maybe for less?) - but the market assigns increasingly lower multiples to "one trick horses" as their market matures.

More certainty in the earning outlook for Intel and AMAT will help. But I think more announcements by Cymer regarding their future product developments will help Cymer more than just another quarter of earnings on target.

Having sold my most recent Cymer holdings 11/24 at 19 5/8 for a small profit, I'm in position to reclaim my Cymer holdings at a 5 point discount. I'm confident the mists will begin to clear and this stock will again start showing stregnth at some point in the future. Collecting interest on cash makes your long-term outlook on Cymer's prospects more optimistic and serene. It'll be easier for me to hold onto Cymer when it's surrounded by pessimism.
