History says your wrong. You show me one country where the dominant culture is highly educated in the liberal arts that isn't doing better than most of the rest of the world. Look at the countries that are having problems. They are countries that do not know how to put social systems together that work. Because they don't have democracies, and or they don't have adequate education, or they are struggling with overpopulation. Which is a whole other problem.

When did we first develop ethics and democracy? History is very clear about that. It was when we developed written language, published books and people became literate i.e. ancient Greece. Everyone knows that democracy and ethics in a formal form came from ancient Greece.

Look around the world. Every single country that has a high liberal arts education as a dominant culture is doing quite well with relatively small crime and abundant prosperity. Every country in the world where the people are primarily uneducated is almost unsafe to live there. As well, the worst countries in the world also hate liberals the most. Isn't that an interesting fact. The worst countries in the world are almost all very conservative.

All of Africa is dangerous. And all of Africa is highly uneducated. All of Central and South America is dangerous. And Central and South America have very low amounts of education in comparison to say the Scandinavian countries, or Japan, Taiwan or South Korea for that matter. All of the Middle East is unsafe and once again almost no liberal arts education. In the above nations that are dangerous to live in society's are formed around religion instead of being formed around modern social science. That is as clear as can be.

But I not only saw it, I lived it. I was up close and personal with the gang mentality growing up, and I have also had the opportunity to get to know the best and the brightest. What part of our country has the most problems? It is the deep South which is very anti-intellectual. Education teaches a person how to think logically and seems to make people more compassionate.

My background is as a social scientist. There are lots of studies that show the more education the less crime. It is an almost perfect inverse correlation. As well, a study I saw once said that for every dollar they spend on head start they get $30 back in increased production and a reduction in crime.

The more education one gets the better able they are to control their violent emotions. That is common knowledge.
