Water heaters with tanks are energy wasters.

Not too concerned about the energy wasting, more about lifestyle and comfort - but of course would prefer the least expensive to run over time.

I did use your link as a starting point to find they make a bigger 27KW version. Unfortunately my water heater was leaking all over the floor and I have a house full of woman - so I picked up and installed a 50 gallon tank style yesterday. It only came with a 6 year warranty so I suspect it'll last less than 10 years.

All the tank less models I'd seen in the past have been gas - which is not an option for me. I think the biggest issue with the larger electric ones is they use 3x40amp connections and the old heater is a single 40amp. So this would involve trying to add two more 6 gauge runs to the panel - that'll be somewhat expensive due to current location. The 13KW uses a single 60amp connection - so that would just be a breaker swap.

Something to keep in mind and hopefully in 10 years they'll have even better models to choose from.

Thanks for the link.
