Fones: Samsung making it on the volume. Just like 3D..................................................

Does this company know how to make a profit?

At one point recently, Apple and Samsung had over 100% of the Fone profit as everyone else was bleeding red.
I doubt with margins cut in half, Samsung is profitable in Fones.

Where does R&D funding come from?

The next Sony?

After being dethroned as the leading smartphone brand in China, India, and Indonesia, Samsung Electronics ( OTC:SSNLF) is winning back customers by slashing prices, reports WSJ. WSJ notes that even if Samsung finds success in boosting its emerging-market share, it will put more pressure on margins. “If they continue to discount the Samsung brand, they will need to keep selling at a discount to Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and that hurts them greatly in the future,” says Bin Lin, President of local Chinese competitor Xiaomi.

According to Gartner, Samsung’s global smartphone market share fell last year to 22.5% from 31% in 2013, while its mobile profit margins fell to 8.9% from 16.1% over the same time period.
