MicroSD slots are probably going to become more popular if users decide they want to download, say, a full length movie to store internally on a smartphone or tablet. My smartphone, as I noted earlier, is the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. T-Mobile was running a promotion at the time, cutting $200 off the price of the Samsung S2 Tablet, so I bought that as well and am adding a 128 GB microSD to the memory slot.

The S2 is the same size as the regular size iPads, but the display is far superior to the iPad, even the iPad with retina display. Samsung also makes a case for the S2 that includes a fairly good keyboard. It's a bit smaller than a full size keyboard, but still very workable. I don't know what's going to happen to overall demand for tablets, but I do know that the S2 should be very competitive, especially at discounted prices. My wife no longer wants to take her MacBook Pro 15-inch on trips, preferring the much smaller and lighter S2.

And again, the S2 has a microSD slot. The iPad doesn't.
