I run PCQuote on a laptop. (I trade from home and travel a lot.) I have found changing pages very slow, so instead I have about 12 windows set up on one page, with only 4 normally open, and the others opened on top when necessary.
Ironically, as I am typing this, my PCQuote will not come up...
Ah, it's back...
Upper left is an intraday chart with 10-minute bars, 5 and 10 bar moving averages (for crossovers), and MACD signal line.
Upper right is a market minder with about 100 stocks I follow on a daily basis. Only last, tick, and cjange is visible, although I also have the volume, high, low, open, chg. open columns available. If I want to see them I expand the window.
Lower right is another market minder for options I am actively trading or watching. The column layout is different -- I need the bid and ask visible.
Lower left is a Level II window with the top 6 market makers showing, although the window is usually covered now by #cnbc scrolling by.
I also often use a daily graph with 5 and 10 day EMA, normally minimised, and Turbo Options for otion chains. The implied volatility and delta columns are especially useful.
My solution for a 'quick reboot' when PCQuote crashes -- Ctrl-Alt-Del in Windows 95 brings up a dialog box with every open program listed. RT is usually shown at this point as 'not responding', and I close the program and restart it without affecting any other program.
