I actually have a Shell panel from the late 1970's. Excess left over from a engineering job back then that was not used. Use it to keep some batteries charged up at the house.

It's still cranking out electrons.

BP got into the business by buying other established companies. My vacation home on Stuart Island has it's 44 original Solerex PV's manufactured in 1991. All of them cranking out electrons 25 years later. Zero failures so far.

Nice being able to generate power with no moving parts and with no pollution or noise.
