Contrail-spotting. Excellent conditions yesterday, a very clear day, and the upper atmosphere was humid enough for trails. One took 7 1/2 minutes from first seen till it flew over. Longest time yet.

Didn't bother checking the website to see which flight it was. I'd say the direction of these is nearly always from the south southwest.

Using 560 mph as usual (and not considering headwinds), that's 70 miles away. Puts it maybe 5 miles past Salisbury. I think that'll be nearly impossible to beat unless I try it somewhere else with no obstacle on the horizon. The trail at that distance is very faint without binoculars. Still a fun pastime.
