To clear the confusion, he didn't start WWII Historical fact - it was already started when the US entered as you apparently don't know. He did unquestionably fail to stay out of it (much like Wilson, the prior liberal war freak) and also unquestionably failed to do anything effective to stop the psychopath Hitler before the war started in 1939, whom he didn't even mention in that speech... damn near proving his incompetence.
