There were 3 components of the crisis:

1) Strong Dollar (companies have dollar denominated debt)

2) The China induced commodities fall

3 The political crisis

All hit all at once.

1) and 3) we have a good idea

Strong dollar peaked
The value of the dollar has fallen this this year against the euro, Russian ruble, Brazilian real and even the Mexican peso.
