"The idea that we can prevent minor climate fluctuations is unrealistic." We can only prevent the changes we cause. If we had volcanic eruptions on the scale of the Deccan Traps, we couldn't do anything about it.It's not unrealistic to think we can quit adding CO2 to the atmosphere. It's just unthinkable to the carbon salesmen.
