This is actually part of the secular trend that is going to drive Western Digital significantly higher. For those who remember time sharing (no, I'm not talking about a vacation condo), we have come full circle and are back on track. Rather than a TTY, phone connection, and a mainframe, we now have the mobile smart client, internet connection, and the cloud. The growth of the cloud, and the explosion in storage needs, cannot be overstated. PC's were a short term phenomenon that brought computing closer to the masses; mobile devices, backed by the cloud, brings it even closer.
The real game hasn't even started yet, and with the coup Western Digital pulled off, they are well positioned for substantial growth for decades to come. |
