Let me way into this North and South debate...

My ancestors fought on both sides of the conflict. Now one of my direct ancestors was a very rich plantation owner, he was a Confederate General / Pay Master. Now before the war he owned slaves, but he freed all of them and made them into share croppers. If they stayed and worked the lands for 7 years the house and plots of land that they worked would become theirs with deeds. They shared a portion of their crops with him, and then they kept the rest to do with as they wanted. His wife also taught any that wanted to learn how to read and write too...secretly. After the war was over, many stayed on those same lands. The plantation today is a state monument for where it is located. I know a lot about the Civil War, but I will say this not everything that we hear about the war is 100% true.

Now as to this Fort Sumter debate... how possibly does this have anything to do with current politics? Also who the heck cares...anyway!
