I love the way Trump's handlers keep telling us that he is 'evolving'.

That is precisely what most people who are horrified at the thought of a Trump presidency are terrified of.

Donald Trump has 'evolved' all of his adult life, and quite often he has 'evolved' right back to where he started, in many cases. His 'evolutions' simply depend on which way the political, or profit, winds are blowing.

I don't want an 'evolving' president. I want someone who has firm, long-held convictions, so that I can know that beyond January 20, 2017, his behaviors, beliefs and policy stances will not change on a whim. Donald Trump's personal history suggests that that is something on which we cannot depend.

I knew what I was voting for when I cast my ballot for Ronald Reagan in 1980. And when I cast my ballot for him again in 1984, I was voting for the exact same thing. It's called consistency of character.

'Evolution' is not all it's cracked up to be.
