questions for any fishermen out there..

suppose you were in a life raft and you could bring some fishing gear with you.. you can't bring along live bait.

would you choose some type of spinner or some type of salt water fly? which do you think would have a better chance of keeping you alive? maybe flies wouldn't work well far away from land because insects probably wouldn't be too plentiful out there. would a spinner be best? i do know they make salt water flies, but that's probably for close to shore. any thoughts by the experts here would be welcome.

and the problem with spinners might be that you're required to work them or they sink and cease to be a lure. flies don't 'have' to be worked. they can just float and still be useful. in a life raft situation, you might not have a lot of energy.

also you wouldn't be sport fishing. so what kind of rod would you prefer? would you like a high test line to keep your lure safe or a low test to keep the line nearly invisible?
