Mohan, this is a continuation of my previous post to you.
We have a wide diversity of participants and viewpoints on SI. That is what makes this means of communication so effective. One can learn nothing from a regurgitation of one's own opinion by others. Rather, one must seek out new and useful ideas on investing.
However, new ideas on investing are of no benefit if those concepts are based on falsities. Therefore, it is of prime importance that all SI participants approach each and every post with a critical eye, searching for valid information to expand his/her knowledge base. To the extent possible we as a group must search out the truth.
To a large extent, most of us do not really know the other participants on SI. Some, like myself, are forced to remain anonymous due to factors outside of our control. Others elect to remain anonymous for reasons of privacy. By in large, we don't know the qualifications, experience, or motives of our fellow participants.
Some of us think that the market will go up for ever while others are perpetual bears. Some of us rely on technical analysis while others depend on fundamentals. One predicts the price movements of individual stocks, another's strength lies in the ability to predict broad market movements, and yet others claim that it is folly to attempt to predict either. Yet, despite the differences, each of us is capable of bringing knowledge and viewpoints that can benefit those of us with open minds.
In closing, I urge you and our fellow threaders to approach each post with an open, yet questioning mind, constantly searching for the optimum investment strategy.
Best wishes,
