I'm usually up by 4-4:30. Make coffee and feed the cats. We have a feral cat that we've befriended in our guest bathroom. She gave birth to 2 kittens 5 weeks ago this Friday. They lost there home during the flooding so we're fostering 4 cats plus our 3 domestic cats. Today all three kittens ate gruel (a combination of wet cat food and a milk additive. Once they eat gruel we can spay the mother cat and return her to the neighborhood. We'll continue to feed her twice daily - just to keep her health in tact. She become very trusting and lets us pick up the kittens. After about 15 minutes of us she claws me lightly and we excuse ourselves. We will foster the kittens and get them spayed and all of the shots through Operation pets alive. It has been a warm and rewarding experience to help these poor beasts. The mother was living in my neighbors boat dock - during the flood it became loose and broke up. She took her 3 kittens to my neighbors compost pile for 3-4 days. They survived out in the open - no roof or protection from rain or hawks. We did a search and found them. Trapped the Mom and reunited her with the kittens (in our guest bathroom) all with in 30 minutes. Been a kitten whisperer ever since. Any body out there want a black tabby striped kitten ? have two and a tan tabby striped kitten ? Bob Trying to knock out my honey do list, as I must travel to Wisconsin Monday morning.
