Steve,

Here is the status of the new 6x86MX System I recently purchased. I was able to slightly overclock the 6x86PR200 66MHz x 2.5 to 75MHz x 2.5 .The Shuttle Hot-603 Board is excellent and quite stable. The 1 MByte of cache helps performance as well. For the most part, the system performs equivalent to a Pentium II 233MHz. The ViewSonic P810 21 inch Monitor is outstanding with the Diamond Viper V330 Graphics card.

I didn't bother trying the 83MHz x 2 as the 75MHz x 2.5 slightly outperforms it on all benchmarks that I have seen. I ended up powering the chip at 3.2 Vdc, to get the added performance. The SDRAM runs great. A couple of things to think about when buying the Shuttle Hot-603 Motherboard. Even though 3 DIMM locations are present, only two sites have connectors (rumor has it that the other site has a bug and therefore is non-functional). The PCI Bus speed is half the System Clock rate, therefore running at 83MHz may be problematic at best.

I plan on trying a few other clock combinations, like 66MHz x 3, and more wait states to see if I can get a little better performance. Overall, the 6x86MX at a PR233MHz rating is basically 50% faster than an Intel Pentium 166MHz. Pretty good for a chip that I paid $135.00 for!
