Re -- I find it hard to believe that the added packaging cost is setting off bells and whistles at AMD. Everything AMD sells contributes to covering some of those sunk cost (unless we throw them away).

IBM decided to do their own packaging of the K6, could it be because, AMD's packaging was very very expensive?

Re -- Did you know that the average selling price of a Classic Pentium 166 is higher than that of the Pentium MMX 166?

Yup, Intel sells from its inventory, all outdated model 133's, 120's etc.. at the same price $99 in volume Qty. Thus it is possible that 120's could sell for more than pentium 166 MMX. Its just that nobody in their right mind would buy the lower Mhz one for general use.
