An analysis of variance in statistics is similar. But the political equation gets so complicated because there are factions within factions e.g. African-Americans for Bernie and gay folks for whomever.

I think the dynamics that are taking place now are more similar to what happened when we went from a verbal culture to a written culture. The way we thought completely changed when we could examine and record ideas with a time base.

Remember on SI in the beginning everybody posted on the same threats. But as we examined each other's thinking we slowly divided ourselves up to the point today where liberals for the most part only post on liberal threads and conservatives only post on conservative threads.

When people are speaking to each other it's really hard to know how they think. But when it is written down day after day and examined in detail we can get an exact perspective on the other person's thinking. And what we found out is that conservatives and liberals are oil and water never the twain to meet, to use a mixed metaphor of sorts-lol.
