5/6/16 Contest update
It was a week when Donald Trump tightened his killer grip on the Republican Party and short sellers tightened their killer grip on biotech stocks. Oy vey!
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -30.34% YTD (vs. down -24.46% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -24.48% YTD (vs. down -20.76% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -28.42% YTD (vs. down -23.30% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -5.42% YTD (vs. down -4.63% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader, DNAJOE’s portfolio, is now also in the red with a -0.65% YTD loss. MASTER’s portfolio, down -3.07% YTD, remains in second place and GHMM’s portfolio, down -11.89% YTD, is back in third place.
At Friday’s close, all 58 Contest portfolios were in the red, with 17 beating the NBI and 23 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -25.11% and a median YTD loss of -26.17%, with a mere 29 of the 224 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
