They don't have any data to support their claim. Where is the data which says 145 M acres burned in 1500, or in 1600, or 1700, or 1800? Where are the numbers behind the graph? It's not even foot-noted to a study. 2015 worst US wildfire year on record Wildfires burned more than 10 million acres of land in the United States in 2015, a year marked by intense drought across much of the west earthsky.org
