So here's a question for the thread. I started bucking up and splitting some of this hickory, definitely a bit stringy splitting and son of a bitch it's heavy wood! Bout all I can do to hoist a 14" dia chunk up on to the splitter (g). This is the first time I've dealt with hickory, it's not common to my local area and was actually harvested down in Mass. I found it is rated as one of the highest for btu's, but my question is about burning it.
Is it best to or do you need to mix it with other wood for best results? I can mix it as I stack it. Although the log load is probably 80% hickory, oh my aching back (ha)
TIA
