I think CJ misspoke, but he brings up a valid point.

How would Trump renegotiate the federal debt held by foreigners without severely impacting the credit of the United States as well as the value of the dollar itself? The dollar itself is a world reserve currency, and to just tank its value would have severe negative repercussions. He can't just renegotiate this away like he could with one of his underperforming companies.

This is just another example of Trump blowing wind. Although I like out-of-the-box thinking, I'm not really sure he really thought this one through, and he's more likely to change his mind or even act like he never said what he said.
