Not necessarily. He could have incited Trayvon, feeling secure that if things got out of hand, he can just shoot him.

Things got out of hand. He shot him.

The whole point was that all of this was completely unnecessary. If Zimmerman didn't have the gun, he probably wouldn't have approached Trayvon in the first place. Instead, he would call the cops.

But no, the cops are too slow. "Fucking punks. These assholes they always get away." Might as well go Charles Bronson on them.

I'm not saying that Zimmerman should have been banned from having a gun in the first place, nor am I saying that Zimmerman hunted Trayvon down and murdered him in cold blood.

I am saying, however, that by possessing a gun, Zimmerman felt free to make choices that escalated into the death of a teenager. These were not sound choices.
