1) Copper is mined for the further electrification of our economy too. And lithium is mined the same copper is.

Current global production of lithium is highly concentrated, both geographically and in corporate ownership. Approximately 85% of world production comes from Chile (Sociedad de Quimica Minera de Chile SA, or SQM, and Rockwood Lithium), Argentina (FMC Corp), and Australia (Talison Lithium).

3) In Alberta, oil is both surface mined and extracted by wells using steam assisted gravity drainage.

The pic I posted was one of those SAGD well sites.

4) The point to be taken is there no energy source that doesn't disturb the environment ... not solar, not wind, not hydro. The least disturbance is likely from natural gas.
