James, I believe the correct calculation is 8.6 mil X $35 X 11.5 =
$3.4 billion. The 11.5 represents the channel component of the channel pop calculation that many wireless firms are using to compare spectrum holdings. Each 100 mhz of frequency is considered 1 channel, and thus the 1150 mhz of frequency CVUS (or 11.5 channels) has in NY means that they have 98.9 million channel pops.

I don't believe the $35 dollar figure is realistic. The highest guesstimate I've seen is $8 per channel pop. When the FCC announced plans for an auction in the 38 ghz range in 1995 (I know, outdated but all I have to go by) they said that a deposit of $2 per channel pop was required to bid. Thus, I think using $2-4 as a number is reasonably conservative, which still means CVUS has between $200-400 million worth of spectrum. BUT, nobody knows until the auction.

As a long time WCII shareholder, I hope the LMDS auctions go well because it will help place a value on the spectrum WCII holds.

Good Luck, Brian
