I agree on the strength of Vocaltec's marketing efforts. I attended the Fall Internet Show in New York a few weeks back and visited the Franklin, Clarent, Intertel, Nortel and Vocaltec booths. Each booth had 1-2 visitors in it with the exception of Vocaltec - they had at least 50 people milling around and 4-5 demonstration phones set up with lines 4 people deep.

I agree the quality may not be there yet but they are certainly going to continue to capture market share if their marketing and PR efforts continue. We are all aware that the quality is better with Franklin and other manufacturers. Unfortunetely, most people don't even know what VON is yet and when they are introduced it may be at the hands of Vocaltec and one of their slick ads!

It appears to me that marketing should come second and education of the public should be first. Vocaltec ads seem to do both. They make a neophite aware of the technology and sell him on the concept and VT products at the same time.

Their name could become synonomous with VON products before the rest of us are out of the gate!

Remember Kleenex, Band-Aid, Q-Tip, etc??
