This sounds like what the MU @ 200 in 2000 guy used to say.

There is no difference between the two companies from a paradigm standpoint.
Both sell a comidity in markets with huge deep pocketed competitors.
Think of bit growth being equal to mips growth.
for MU it was when 16 MB crossed over 4 MB in units.
for DELL, it is now, When Pentimum PC's cross over the demands of MS Office.
That time is about now.

There will always be demand at the high end, for MU's 64 and 256 MB products, and for dell "rocket scientist."
But the bread and butter are thoes low end comodity low tech units that give the company size and scale. The big profits in dell's case don't come from the low end, but the low end is what makes it possible for the high end to make big bucks.

SGI high end only, not really big bucks.
SUNW High end, but a lot of low end stuff to help. Med Bucks.
MUEI great low end, no high, no bucks.
