Actually, Corel has is still in a position of strength insofar as their graphics product is concerned and it's still extremely valuable. That's where there strength has been historically and they have to broaden that. Look at how Micrographx pulled themselves out of the fire which a few cheezy product upgrades (MGXI) and look at the brisk business Visio (VSIO) is doing with a simple drawing package. Corel missed these opportunities because of an unfocused and incapable leadership. Now opportunities for diagramming and drawing tools are presenting themselves in the enterprise and on the Internet, especially the Java-based software markets. So what is Corel doing? They are focusing on areas where they have no expertise and no hope of every succeeding: OLAP and the NC to name a few. How many times and does it have to be said? Cowpland must go and they must bring in competent technological and marketing leadership.
