You're right, it's a phase 1 study:

Guy Macdonald:

"Again, this initial study, as we’ve said, is really to confirm and really expand on the findings from the phase 3 study. So we’re doing an IV oral step-down using the external conditions of the phase 3 study in a phase 1 unit where we can really get much more rigorous PK. Our analysis of the phase 3 UTI study showed that the oral dosing had kind of an underperformance and it really drove the overall study result.

"Our assumption is that that’s due to decreased exposure with oral. And we have some indication of that from PK from this study itself, but we really want to confirm that. And then once we get that and look at that magnitude, then we’re going to do a follow-on study to look at some different things to really overcome that and see what we can do. So we really don't know the full oral development program until we get the results from those two studies. But we anticipate certainly by the end of this year that we should have a much more fleshed out final plan for getting it back into the clinic."

And I agree that they appear to have rushed and not to have fully done their homework on the oral characterization. It's a bonehead mistake of overconfidence that will cost us shareholders a lot of money. I don't know how we could have seen that coming, but if you unearth some clues we should have seen, do post them.
