I forget that you think drought means an end to extreme rains.

"Have to page back to 2015 to find a mention of rainfall:"

As opposed to 2011? The 2011 Texas Drought - October 31, 2011
Maybe that's cuz it wasn't raining a lot during the drought years. Technically, all those drought stories are about rainfall, too, as in "it's not raining, folks".

"BTW the state climatologist has held the job since 2000. Was appointed by Gov. Bush."

That and $5 will get him a cup of coffee to sip on while writing a story about more extreme rains. I'm willing to split the cost with you.

Oh, and once again, I should point out that, by definition, extreme rain does not mean wettest year. It occurs over 24 hours, the length time the earth takes to make one revolution on its axis. Most English-speaking people call that one day.
