It's not that Apple is wrong in looking to India for more smartphone growth, it's just that the iPhone's price tag is essentially an insurmountable hurdle right now, and nearly everything the company's done to change that hasn't worked.

it's why Apple is looking to sell refurbished phones there and likely will succeed once they've payed homoage to the appropriate individuals and institutions. A refurbished 4s being state of the art enough for the entry level Indian buyer.

All about incremental revenue and capturing the user into the ecosystem
