No risk to your own life or safety. That is what military combat awards represent. People in civilian life are frequently cited for saving lives at their own risk.

You have no reason to disrespect and man who only quoted his discharge papers which may or may not have been correct. The Department of the Navy stated he had one Silver Star and Three Bronze Stars.

That is indeed something a very small percentage of servicemen are awarded. However, they all face danger , death and disfigurement. It is just ridiculous to quibble over a number of decorations for Valor when he actually received them.
