the proportion of Teslas is tiny and the profit margins are enormous, so it's easy to throw away a lot of money on a "free" supercharger network. But the land costs money and so does the equipment and so does the electricity, so it's not actually free, unlike the oxygen in the air which a car can suck in for no charge and it's available everywhere, in any amount.
Tesla is trying to solve the big problem of recharging by installing lots of "free" superchargers. But they can't install enough for everyone to get a freebie on a busy weekend when it's raining. They will have to do what electricity generators do which is introduce peak pricing to keep demand matched with supply. Or they could just leave everyone stewing in queues which is what happens in many marketing plans
You are missing the point of what Tesla is doing with it's Supercharging stations. Most of them are on property given to Tesla for a very low price or leased from properties (resturants, hotels, retail business, ect) that want them to show up. They get power at industral rates and most of the sites will have solar installed above them, especially in the desert SW.
Obviously you have had no experience with them!
Recharging is not a problem for the vast, vast majority of us who recharge at home anyway. Super convenient and only takes seconds to plug in.
No more worry about not having enough gas in the tank!
Electrons are much cheaper than gasoline.
It's only on very long trips that we use them and now that "destination chargers" are being installed at a rapid rate it just allows us to skip a lot of Superchargers on the road.
But still on long trips it's nice to be able to take a quick pit stop, get some food and drain the tank before hitting the road again. I cannot go more than three or four hours on the road anyway.
Thank you Tesla, the free electron fill-up is great!
You failed to understand the point about CDMA breaching the laws of physics. Of course it doesn't, but back in the early 1990s, a Stanford professor, Lusignan, and others such as Bill Frezza did. They were wrong. Similarly, a 7SSS for cute little modular battteries does not breach the laws of physics.
I totally understand the point. LOL!
Don't wait around too long. There is absolutely no need for battery swapping with longer range EV's rolling out today.
I don't have to worry about messy petrol anymore.
No more tuneups, oil and filter changes, antifreeze changes, timing belts and oil leaks to name a few of the many problems of all ICE vehicles...
