All countries must declare whether or not they consider these evil murderers as criminals. If their answer is “no” --then they are declaring war against humanity and civilization--and they must be fought and subdued. This is not a difficult concept. If you harbor criminals intent on murdering innocent human beings—decent, good, law-abiding citizens who belong to the very same human species that I belong to--then you are my enemy.
If such a country does declare on the side of civilization, then the next questions are very clear: How much time do you need to arrest these criminals and to destroy all the resources they use and rely on? AND how many weeks do you require before we lend the assistance of the United Nations alliance Or some other created body) to capture and prosecute these individuals in the International Court.
Clearly, the United Nations requires a bit of body work and a new paint job if it is to carry us forward through the next couple of decades. A legal committee needs to be formed to clarify goals and objectives and to define duties, responsibilities, and so forth. Voluntary troops could become mandatory. This is not an easy task but it is long over-due and MUST be one of the first actions taken by world leaders in 2017. We need to give TEETH to our organizations. And these terrorist war crimes must be prosecuted.
Every member of the United Nations ought to have a military base strictly for addressing the scourge of terrorism (regardless of the type of terrorism or the motive)--and for giving visible presence to the Alliance. Claims are worthless without presence (and in this regard, remind me to address this concept in a later post regarding the claims to North-West passage). This military base could be comprised of troops equal to (say) .05% of the countries population, with the host country supplying perhaps 30% of the troops and all the other member nations contributing troops in accordance to their proportionate populations overall--relative to the entire United Nations as a whole. So, for instance, Belgium has a population of 11 million people. .05% of that is 5500 troops—1650 to be supplied by Belgium. The remaining 3850 troops to be divided amongst member nations in accordance with their population.
This sort of sharing and cooperation names, recognises, realizes, and addresses the common threat—the brutal reality of the religious war being waged against civilized people. Additionally, it provides constant surveillance, vigilance, and purpose--and an unflagging justification for taking immediate and decisive military action whenever and wherever these criminals against the human race surface from their dens.
I merely plugged in these numbers in order to suggest that the solution must be precisely laid out with exact obligations and duties. Other numbers would undoubtedly be more appropriate.
In talks and negotiations, Islamic States must be challenged with keeping the tenets of their own charter and demonstrating to the world that they do in fact oppose terrorism and mistreatment of women, minorities, etc.
They either consider the terrorists as criminals or they do not? It is time for straight talk. Either shit or get off the pot. |
