We could be going down to a defeat of "Goldwater" proportions. That's what the party "regulars" think is going to happen. The problem is that some of the Rep established figures are actively promoting such an outcome. They love the idea of the "big tent" - of uniting after the primaries - when the candidate is one of their picks. And if not - it seems they'd just as well burn the darn tent. If they weren't a corrupt and lazy bunch, Trump wouldn't be the candidate.
